VIDEO: DE State Police Trooper Dies After Shooting; Suspect Barricaded

A Delaware State Police trooper has died after being shot at a Wawa store in Bear, while the suspect has barricaded himself inside his home in Middletown, reports WPVI.

The name of the trooper has not been released pending notification of family.

The trooper was shot around 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Wawa store on Pulaski Highway (Route 40) near Salem Church Road.

While the exact circumstances of the shooting have not been released, a witness told WPVI the trooper was on the ground when the suspect shot the trooper execution-style.

The barricade situation is happening in a home on the 500 block of St. Michaels Drive in the Brick Mill Farms Development.

Police say the male suspect is refusing orders to surrender and has fired shots at officers.

It is believed that he is inside the home by himself. Hostage negotiators were trying to establish contact with the man.

Harris County, TX, commissioners voted Tuesday to name the courthouse annex where Chief Deputy Constable Clint Greenwood was killed in an ambush earlier this month after the longtime lawman, reports the Houston Chronicle.

County Judge Ed Emmett said he expected new signs to be up on the annex at 701 W. Baker Road in Baytown within weeks.

Greenwood was shot to death early in the morning of April 3, moments after pulling into the parking lot of the annex where he worked for the Precinct 3 constable's office.

VIDEO: KS Sergeant Disarms Suspect Who Pulled Gun

A 34-year-old man was charged Tuesday with threatening an Overland Park, KS, police sergeant with a gun, reports the Kansas City Star.

Bradley Don Poland was charged in Johnson County District Court with aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. His bond was set at $250,000.

The sergeant suffered minor injuries in the incident, which began when he pulled over a car that was driving without headlights and driving the wrong way on 103rd Street around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

The driver had one arm behind his back, and the sergeant asked the driver to show his hands as he approached. The driver showed the sergeant a pistol, but would not let go of it. The sergeant grabbed the driver’s arm to control the gun, and the men continued to struggle until the sergeant was able to disarm the man.
