Kentucky Woman Charged with Resisting, Intentionally Defecating on Deputy

The Madison County (KY) Sheriff's Office says a woman intentionally defecated on a deputy to avoid being arrested.

Amanda Peters, 26, was arrested around 2 a.m. on Saturday at her home, online records showed. She had been wanted on an outstanding warrant in neighboring Rockcastle County, according to WLEX-TV.

When the homeowner let officers in, Peters reportedly locked herself in a bathroom. A responding deputy forced himself into the bathroom and arrested the woman "with force."

That's when police allege Peters "intentionally released her bowels in an upward motion and with purposeful direction at this Deputy — causing said bodily waste to land on the face, arms and legs of this Deputy."

Peters was charged with resisting arrest, third-degree assault of an officer, identity theft of another without consent, giving an officer false identifying information and theft by unlawful taking or disposition of $10,000 or more.

Kansas Deputy Shot and Killed on Suspicious Person Call

Deputy Robert Kunze of the Sedgwick County (KS) Sheriff’s Office was killed in a exchange of fire with a suspicious person Sunday. The suspect was also killed. (Photo: Sedgwick County SO)

A 12-year veteran of the Sedgwick County (KS) Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed Sunday while responding to a suspicious character call, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said during a Sunday evening news conference. A second person, the suspect, was also killed.

Deputy Robert Kunze was called at around 1:18 p.m. to an area just north of Garden Plain and about 20 miles west of downtown Wichita.

When Kunze arrived at about 1:42 p.m. Sunday, he saw a person who matched the description of the suspicious character, Easter said. Then, at about 1:48 p.m., Kunze “activated the emergency button on his portable radio,” the sheriff’s office said.

Another deputy responded and found both Kunze and the male suspect on the ground, Easter told Kansas.com.

Kunze was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis by ambulance and pronounced dead at around 2:55 p.m.

Texas Undercover Officer Dies in Hospital from Gunshot Wound

Fort Worth, TX, officer Garrett Hull died Saturday from a gunshot wound he suffered early Friday morning while confronting robbery suspects. (Photo: Fort Worth PD)

Undercover Fort Worth (TX) Police Officer Garrett Hull who was shot just after midnight Friday while working with a robbery unit died Saturday.

Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald along with Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price and several members of the Fort Worth Police Department announced the news just after midnight Saturday morning — just about 24 hours after Hull was shot during a confrontation with a group of armed robbery suspects.

“I regret that I have to speak to you all this evening,” began Fitzgerald. “I am even more dismayed by the fact that I have to announce that at 21:40 hours Police Officer Garrett Hull passed away. We’ve lost a true hero; someone who has dedicated more than one tour of service to this great city and was senselessly killed by three known criminals — two of which are in custody now.”

According to police, officers had a group of suspects under surveillance early Friday morning at the bar when the suspects actually committed a robbery, CBS News reports.

When the suspects ran out of the bar uniformed officers were waiting, and helped the undercover officers stop the robbers as they tried to get into an SUV. It was then that one of the suspects, later identified as Dacion Steptoe, opened fire. Steptoe reportedly hit Hull, and Hull's fellow officers returned fire killing Steptoe. Two other suspects are in custody.

Fitzgerald said that Hull was an organ donor. “We will see him prolong the life of other folks that potentially could live a long and prosperous life because of the sacrifice that he made.”

Officer Who Stopped School Shooting to be Honored at Tonight's Chicago Bears' Game

A police officer who stopped a school shooting earlier this year will be honored by the Chicago Bears at their home opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

Mark Dallas, the Dixon, IL, police officer who shot and wounded a school shooting suspect at a high school in February, will serve as the team’s honorary captain for the game, and will attend the contest as a special guest of the team, the Bears confirmed Thursday.

It is the latest in a long line of honors for Dallas, who chased the suspect and shot him, preventing any other injuries during the incident. He was honored by Governor Bruce Rauner in May with “Officer Mark Dallas Day,” and other teams and organizations have given him similar honors after his heroic actions, NBC Chicago reports.

Video: New Mexico Officer, Local Church Provide Homeless Man with Wheelchair

On Saturday morning 911 dispatchers in Albuquerque were receiving numerous calls of an older gentleman in a wheelchair asking for money at the intersection of Wyoming and Montgomery. Sergeant Jim Edison with APD took the call.

When he arrived he found Timothy Scott, and asked him why he was on the street corner. Scott told the officer he was just released from the hospital, and was hungry.

Edison then gave Scott the lunch his wife packed for him. While moving the man to a safer place, Edison discovered that his wheelchair was in bad need of repair.

Edison enlisted the help of Faith Lutheran Church, a ministry that specializes in helping those with special needs to provide the man with a new wheelchair.

Judge Rules DOJ Cannot Withhold Anti-Gang Money from Sanctuary Cities

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction Friday barring the Trump administration from imposing requirements that local jurisdictions cooperate with immigration agents to receive anti-gang funds.

U.S. District Judge Manuel Real issued the injunction against the Department of Justice in response to a lawsuit filed by the city of Los Angeles in July seeking to prevent the government from awarding federal police grants based on cooperation with immigration enforcement, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The ruling was a setback in the administration’s campaign to crack down on illegal immigration and require cities like Los Angeles, whose police department does not provide information to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to comply.
