California SRO Attacked by Student and Disarmed of Baton

A scuffle between a school police officer and a student led to the boy reportedly body slamming the cop outside a San Jacinto, CA, school.

The violent struggle between students and the campus resource officer in front of San Jacinto High School Friday was caught on camera.

San Jacinto High School had just let out when the officer started to break up a fight near campus. He was soon swarmed with students, and it appeared some of the students tried to pull off a boy who allegedly tackled the officer to the ground.

Substitute teacher Daniel Levya told CBS Los Angeles that’s when he intervened.

“Levya said he knew he had to take quick action when he saw one of the students take the officer’s baton.

An officer with the Detroit Police Department has reportedly been fired over a post he made on social media saying, "Another night to Rangel up [sic] these zoo animals."

According to WJBK-TV, DPD Chief James Craig spoke with Officer Sean Bostwick about the post and was not satisfied with the reasoning for making the comment.

"His reasoning certainly didn't pass muster," Chief Craig said.

Bostwick was just two months out of the academy when he was let go.

Evans reportedly provided the applicant with confidential information on why she had failed a prior background inquiry done in 2010 and 2011, according to the bureau's summary of the case.

Boston Officer Shot, 2 Suspects Taken Into Custody

An officer with the Boston Police Department was shot on Sunday, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, according to the Boston Herald.

Boston police Commissioner William Gross said that the shooting underscores the danger of the job and callous attitude faced by police.

Gross said the officers—members of the department's youth violence strike force—came upon a group of subjects sitting on a stairway.

"Upon seeing police, the men got to their feet and grabbed at their waists," according to the Herald.

The men then reportedly barricaded themselves in an apartment. When officers entered, they were immediately fired upon.

One officer—who has not yet been identified—was struck. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
