FLIR PRIMED - Episode 23: ICS & Critical Decision Making

In episode 23, Grant interviewed Shon Christenson, Hazmat Team Coordinator for State Hazmat Team 7, Portland Fire and Rescue, to find out how he used the Incident Command System (ICS) for critical decision-making while in the trenches of a 2016 train derailment. Shon recently previewed this topic at the 2018 IAFC HAZMAT show in Baltimore, MD. ICS is a fundamental process for efficiently and effectively responding to a variety of emergency situations. ICS is designed to be flexible and modular enough to adapt to new challenges. A strong familiarization with the system can help integrate these principles into daily habits before the next big emergency hits. FLIR PRIMED is a CBRNE Training Video Series. Bone Tactical – Cholombia Combat Shirts

They’ve got quite a story behind the shirt, so I won’t steal their thunder, but rather encourage you to hit the link and read it for […]

Chicago PD Adds SIG Sauer P320 as an Authorized Duty Pistol

SIG Sauer Inc. announced the City of Chicago Police Department has added the P320 to the department's official authorized duty pistol list. The Chicago Police Department is the second largest police department in the United States with over 13,000 sworn officers, covering 22 police districts within the city.

"We are pleased that the SIG Sauer P320 has been added to the Chicago Police Department's official authorized duty pistol listing," began Tom Jankiewicz, Executive Vice President, Law Enforcement Sales, SIG Sauer, Inc. "The modular design of the P320 gives their full complement of officers the capability to easily change grip size and convert the sizing of their P320 from full-size to sub-compact, based on the officers needs and preferences. This customization feature of the P320 makes it an excellent option for a large department like the Chicago PD to meet the diversity of needs amongst officers."

The P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol available in full-size, carry, compact, and subcompact sizing. The serialized trigger group makes the P320 adaptable to multiple caliber, size, and grip options. The P320 is available in 9mm, .357SIG, 40S&W, and .45ACP, with a choice of contrast, or SIGLITE Night Sights. The company says the intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

The official authorized P320 pistols listed on the Department Approved Semiautomatic Pistols and Ammunition listing include: P320 Nitron Full-Size, P320 Nitron Carry, P320 Nitron Compact, and the P320 Nitron Subcompact.

"We here at SIG Sauer are honored that the Chicago Police Department has chosen to add the SIG Sauer P320 to its authorized duty pistol list and look forward to strengthening our relationship with the department," concluded Jankiewicz.

Detachment B-52 (Project Delta) Reconnaissance Tips Of The Trade

When I joined the Army in 1985, most of my senior NCO leadership had served in Vietnam. They were men who had seen combat and we hung on their every word as we trained. In the late 80s, I served in a LRSD in Germany. We turned to photocopies of a document produced by the […]
