Lambeau Field: Shoveling Out the Frozen Tundra

Dickies is the proud workwear partner of Lambeau Field outfitting groundskeepers, security staff, game-day facilities staff and more. To honor cold weather workers in Green Bay and beyond, Dickies produced a film featuring the hard-working Green Bay community. The film highlights Wisconsin people and companies such as Metals Engineering, Alexander’s Sport Fishing Guide Service, Dave Schroeder, sports reporter for WBAY, the ABC affiliate in Green Bay and Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy Farm and the renowned John T. Pagel captured in memorable footage before his passing. The film pays respect to a community that embodies the pride and dignity found in hard work. Additional scenes capture the infamous “dig out” of Lambeau Stadium. An event that takes place nearly every year before a home game when hundreds of fans fill the stadium to work together to remove snow by shovel in the open-air stadium. The whipping wind and scrapes of the shovel can be heard throughout the film in homage to the stadium's nickname, the Frozen Tundra. The nickname was spawned by the legendary Ice Bowl between Green Bay and Dallas, played on December 31, 1967. The game was played in temperatures of −15 °F with sharp winds. Journalist Tex Maule associated Lambeau Field with the term tundra in his article summarizing the game in Sports Illustrated. https://ift.tt/2zlnU0L Dickies November 02, 2018 at 11:58AM
