Chicago PD Adds SIG Sauer P320 as an Authorized Duty Pistol

SIG Sauer Inc. announced the City of Chicago Police Department has added the P320 to the department's official authorized duty pistol list. The Chicago Police Department is the second largest police department in the United States with over 13,000 sworn officers, covering 22 police districts within the city.

"We are pleased that the SIG Sauer P320 has been added to the Chicago Police Department's official authorized duty pistol listing," began Tom Jankiewicz, Executive Vice President, Law Enforcement Sales, SIG Sauer, Inc. "The modular design of the P320 gives their full complement of officers the capability to easily change grip size and convert the sizing of their P320 from full-size to sub-compact, based on the officers needs and preferences. This customization feature of the P320 makes it an excellent option for a large department like the Chicago PD to meet the diversity of needs amongst officers."

The P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol available in full-size, carry, compact, and subcompact sizing. The serialized trigger group makes the P320 adaptable to multiple caliber, size, and grip options. The P320 is available in 9mm, .357SIG, 40S&W, and .45ACP, with a choice of contrast, or SIGLITE Night Sights. The company says the intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

The official authorized P320 pistols listed on the Department Approved Semiautomatic Pistols and Ammunition listing include: P320 Nitron Full-Size, P320 Nitron Carry, P320 Nitron Compact, and the P320 Nitron Subcompact.

Second Kansas Deputy Dies from Prisoner Transport Shooting

A second Wyandotte County (KS) sheriff’s deputy has died from wounds inflicted during a prisoner transport shooting Friday.

Theresa King, 44, died shortly after midnight on Saturday from injuries sustained in the shooting, which authorities believe started with a gun grab by a robbery and murder suspect.

King fought for her life at the University of Kansas Hospital where she was taken after she and a colleague, Deputy Patrick Rohrer, were shot outside the Wyandotte County Correctional and Court Services building in Kansas City, KS. Rohrer, 35, died Friday.

Kansas City, KS, police have not officially disclosed the identity of the inmate, but sources have told The Star and other media have reported that Antoine Fielder, 30, is believed to be the suspect. He was scheduled for a court hearing on Friday morning ahead of a July 30 trial for a robbery charge, according to online booking records. Fielder also faces murder charges in Jackson County.

The inmate was also shot in Friday's incident and transported to receive medial care. There was no word on Saturday on his condition.
