Face of Defense: Single Parents Lead Households, Squadrons

Air Force Lt. Col. Carina Harrison and Air Force Lt. Col. Stacie Voorhees are both single parents who juggle the competing priorities of family and squadron leadership. Harrison has a 15-year-old daughter and Voorhees has two young girls. The women say being flexible when blending their military careers with family life has allowed them to succeed at both.
Lt. Col. Stacie Voorhees, left, 100th Communications Squadron commander, and Lt. Col. Carina Harrison, 100th Force Support Squadron commander, pose with their daughters at RAF Mildenhall, England, Feb. 23, 2018. These leaders tell their story on how they surpass the sometimes colliding responsibilities of family and duty. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Alexandria Lee)
