No Charges Against Minnesota Officers in Fatal OIS of Thurman Blevins

No charges will be filed against the officers involved in the fatal officer-involved shooting of 31-year-old Thurman Blevins in an alley in Minneapolis on June 23, according to a statement from the county attorney.

Hennepin County attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement that Blevins allegedly ignored multiple commands to show his hands, took a gun out of his pocket, and turned toward the officers.

"Witness testimony, body camera footage, and forensic testing proved that Blevins had a gun in his hand" when he fled officers and led them on a lengthy foot pursuit, according to ABC News.

Two officers had responded to a 911 call reporting a male firing a handgun in a residential neighborhood. The officers fired a total of 14 shots, with four hitting Blevins, according to authorities.
