A deputy with the Sacramento County (CA) Sheriff's Department was shot and killed as he and another a deputy responded to a disturbance call at an auto parts store on Monday.

A male subject—whose name has not yet been released—shot and killed 27-year-old Deputy Mark Stasyuk and injured Deputy Julie Robertson.

The man reportedly opened fire on the two deputies as they arrived on the scene. Other responding deputies shot and wounded the suspect as he fled on foot, according to ODMP.

The suspect then fled and was shot by two other responding deputies, according to the Sacramento Bee. The man was then taken into custody.

Deputy Robertson—who was shot in the arm—is expected to fully recover from her injuries.

Deputy Stasyuk had served with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for four and a half years.
