Former Massachusetts Officer Convicted of "Straw" Gun Purchases

A jury has convicted 38-year-old Adarbaad Karani—a former officer with the Boston (MA) Police Department—of using his professional credentials to illegally buy two handguns for civilian acquaintances.

The Boston Herald reports that Karani was found guilty of two counts of making a false statement during the purchase of firearms when he acted as a "straw purchaser" for two Glock pistols in in November 2014 and September 2015.

Karani now faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
