Kentucky Air Guard Deploys Search and Recovery Team Following Hurricane Florence

At the request of North Carolina public health officials and to augment the North Carolina Medical Examiner, the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Fatality Search and Recovery Team has deployed 11 members to North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Florence.
Members of the 123rd Airlift Wing’s Fatality Search and Recovery Team pack equipment at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., Sept. 17, 2018, prior to deploying to North Carolina to support operations in the wake of Hurricane Florence. The team, which specializes in the dignified recovery of deceased personnel, will assist the North Carolina medical examiner’s office at the request of local health officials.
